History
What began in 1953 as a repair business for jute sacks, founded by Mr F. Visscher, grew into a distribution company for cleaning cloths almost twenty years later. To this day, Wecovi successfully serves the European market with sustainable and smart solutions for the professional cleaning and leisure sectors.
How It All Began
As jute sacks were increasingly replaced by plastic and paper bags and bulk transport, founder Visscher began looking for a new opportunity. He found it in a cleaning cloth he noticed lying on a table during a meeting abroad. Visscher bought five packs of these cloths and sold them to several garages in the region in just one afternoon. The demand was clear, and the idea for a new business was born.
A Recipe for Success in Professional Cleaning
Together with business partner Wessels, Visscher founded Wecovi in 1971, with the name combining Wessels and Visscher & Co. Visscher personally secured the exclusive rights to sell the cleaning cloths in the Netherlands, and with great success. In 1980, Visscher bought out his business partner and continued the company on his own. In the 1990s, his son Hans Paul Visscher joined the company and eventually took over Wecovi in 1997.
